Hello everyone! My name is Alfred Shum. This is the start of my blog for my Senior Research with LoopLogic! I'm looking very forward to it.
My objective of this internship is to create a business model of LoopLogic as a video streaming site. We all know of YouTube right? A popular site for posting videos, it makes sense that there would be some pros of working with YouTube to create a professional business video center revolving around one's business.
However, YouTube isn't the only competitor in this market. There are several other video sites, such as Vimeo and Vidyard, that offer alternatives with their own advantages or disadvantages. But to make an informed decision, one must examine all options. And that's my job. By working with Mr. Legay of LoopLogic and Mr. Smart of Basis Scottsdale, I aim to create a comparative business model of this market so as to benefit the business community as a whole.
By working at LoopLogic, I will also be gaining experience from working in a computer science based job. I am looking forward into majoring into a computer science degree in college, so working with experienced programmers will teach me a lot about how a job in programming operates in the world.
I'm really looking forward to this opportunity to work in a computer science field! See you around!

That sounds really cool! What are you most excited for in creating this business model?
ReplyDeleteI'm looking very forward to creating the chart that will compare and contrast all the video streaming sites in study. It will hopefully give business companies a good model of comparison when deciding on these sites!
DeleteThis looks very exciting! What exactly will you be working on with Mr. Legay on a day-to-day basis?
ReplyDeleteThis is a really interesting project. I'd be really interested to see a post that charted pros and cons of Youtube, Vimeo, Vidyard, and LoopLogic!
ReplyDeleteI'm also curious about your day-to-day activities! You mentioned a "business model." How are you going to balance comp sci and business? Which will you focus on more?
ReplyDeleteI will work daily with Mr. Legay on computer science activities such as coding in the office. At the same time, I will be collecting data from a company that is using LoopLogic and has agreed to release specific information for the compare and contrast business model.
DeleteHey Alfred,
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good project. Since you will be using Looplogic, maybe you should create some video blog entries!
Mr. Bloom
Hey Alfred,
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you know of other websites that are growing exponentially that also may compete with television as a whole. http:www.twitch.tv/ is a pressing new form of entertainment allowing viewers to speak directly to gamers while they stream. Allowing popular stars such as Pewdiepie and other popular professional gamers to be watched live. How might the use of these new popular websites be a new career path for future generations? Do you believe Youtubers and Twitch streamers can make livings of their product over videos?

Well, these forms of streaming are mainly for entertainment purposes and is simply through the medium of the Web. You can draw parallel and point out how radio stations have allowed listeners to dial in and talk directly with the hosts while live, boosting the interaction of those participating and making the audience feel comfortable. I suspect that we have already have had this occur online, especially considering that YouTube has already been promoting its ad revenue system. Essentially, to wrap things up: Yes, it is possible to live through YouTube and Twitch, as it is becoming much like television and radio in the way of ad revenue.
